I went for my first post Christmas run today... and it hurt. I tried to remind myself that this is what happens when you haven't done anything which even resembles exercise for over three months and have stuffed your face with mince pies and chocolate all through the festive period. But still, after all of my gluttony it was certainly hard to muster up the energy to get back out into the cold on a Saturday morning and make my legs move faster than they normally would.
I guess that's why it's taken until January 26th to do it! Like always I needed to give myself a bit of incentive and I did so by treating myself to some new running gear from H&M sport.
The sports line from H&M has been like a godsend to me. I'm not a naturally sporty person so regular sports shops scare me slightly. Full of toned individuals dressed in shiny tracksuits spinning basketballs on one finger while looking at me like I don't belong? No thanks. Up until about nine months ago I didn't even own a sports bra (I know the shame) and would turn up to my spin/ zumba/ dance classes in a pair of leggings and whatever random T-shirt of GB's I could find.
However H&M offers sports gear that is on trend while still being fully functional. Some sports nuts may say otherwise but for someone like me who rarely manages more than two bouts of exercise a week it suits me just fine.
For the new year I treated myself to a rather fetching bright orange sports top (a little too bright for the park at 10am this morning I did realise), a pair of breathable shorts (which I'll be wearing with leggings underneath - my legs are definitely in no shape to be seen in that capacity just yet), and a new pink sports bra (hurrah!).

Now at least if I do bump into anyone I know when leaving my Spin/ Zumba/ Dance class I at least resemble my fashionable alter ego a little...
