A little break in Fashion week coverage to bring you an outfit post with a difference. If you had asked me when I first starting posting my outfits on the blog whether the words 'split skirt and crop top' would ever appear here in a title I'm sure I would have said a resounding NO.
Crop tops generally scare me quite a bit and unless oversized, baggy and worn with something high waisted so as to show as little flesh as possible, they are usually a thanks but no thanks kind of item for me. With the trend in abundance this summer I decided to combat my fear and purchased this little ribbed number from ASOS (because anything grey marl usually wins me over) but on the whole I've been wearing it with floaty or full skirts that almost meet its hem and always with a cardigan or jacket over the top, not with an equally tight fitting skirt with a huge split up the front.
But as soon as I spotted this skirt on the ASOS website I knew it was special and deserving of the special occasion I purchased it for. The length, cut and colour of this skirt suggest more high fashion than high street and little details such as a leather trim on the waistband make it one of those little gems that only come along every so often on ASOS but you know, when they do, that you have to snap them up.
I wore this outfit last month when myself and GB were celebrating our four year anniversary and decided to treat ourselves by finally visiting The Shard for dinner and drinks. As it turned out the dinner and drinks part was a little pretentious for our liking and it wasn't long before we retired to the local pub down the road in favour of the comfy sofas, warm atmosphere and a more affordable bottle of house white. However the view from the Shard at night is incredible and I'd definitely recommend visiting if only for that. Plus its pretty exciting taking a lift up that high.
