Five Things of the Week | Slippers, Flowers and Styling

Five Things of the WeekWell where exactly has this week gone I’d like to ask?? There I was being all organised by scheduling posts while I was away in Venice so that there wouldn’t be a long gap between updates, only to come home and go four days without a peep! What can I say? Venice was incredible, I have a mountain of photos and recommendations and stories to share with you but somehow I haven’t yet found the time to make my way through the endless pictures and begin the edit. So instead I’ll begin with a five things of the week and hopefully bring you a little photo diary from the trip later this weekend.

1. Slipper Love…

Well aside from Venice, which I’ll save for another time, this week has been filled with busy London days and busy working evenings. I feel as if I’ve been walking miles every day and haven’t really stopped, so I sure am glad that I found these gorgeous and very comfortable Penelope Chilvers slippers at the end of last week. I picked them up in a second hand vintage and designer resale shop near Crouch End on my way home from a meeting one day, they were an absolute steal and a style I’d always loved when they first came out. As soon as I tried them on and felt like I was walking in my comfiest slippers, I knew I wasn’t going to be able to leave the shop without them… and so I didn’t. No regrets here though, they saw me through long days of sightseeing in Venice and even survived a torrential rain storm (poor little slippers).

2. Afternoon Tea…

Well it has been a while since I indulged my afternoon tea addiction, mainly due to that pesky FODMAP diet getting in the way of eating anything tasty at all, so when I was invited to a blogger afternoon tea event at The Rose Lounge in the Sofitel Hotel I jumped at the chance to eat my first scone in months. The hotel is currently offering a Chelsea Flower Show themed tea to tie in with the event, so on top of those signature sandwiches and scones you can expect four of the most beautifully designed cakes, which match the flower show themes. I had the pleasure of delving into one of those giant raspberry macarons which was definitely the best of the bunch in my opinion. You can see more about the afternoon tea here.

3. Jewellery Gems…

How beautiful is this styling? I snapped this pic at the Push PR press day this week (their new offices just happen to be right opposite my flat which is super handy) where I fell for these adorable initial rings from Daisy Jewellery. The event was styled wonderfully by Jemima of Musings from a London Mum with flowers from A Riot of Colour. I’m not sure if it’s because I’m planning a wedding but suddenly good styling and floral displays are the first thing I notice at an event, and this had a perfect Autumn Winter vibe that I was loving.

4. Sunshine and Roses…

A little bit of my own styling efforts from my newly positioned deskspace, which by the by I am still LOVING. Who knew that sitting by the window could provide so much more motivation? To help get myself back on work mode this week after our little holiday, I filled my favourite coffee pot with fresh pink roses and let the sun stream in past my laptop each morning. I’m still attempting to dry flowers for confetti whenever I can and roses seem to work the best so for now they are my desk flower of choice, although I’m always sad to pull them apart before they’re really past their best (it’s the only way).

5. This guy…

Finally I’ll end this week with this little guy, who we’re looking after for the weekend. He came to visit this morning and when he hasn’t been vying for my attention, he’s spent the day snoring under my desk while I work – such a distraction but that grumpy little face gets me every time.

I’ve got a busy weekend ahead with family visiting and a friend running the Marathon on Sunday so we’ll be out cheering her on and soaking up the London sunshine (hopefully). I’ve mentioned it on here a few times but Marathon day is such an amazing day in London and I just think everyone involved is so amazing so if you do get a chance to go and cheer them all on, I absolutely recommend it.

Hope you all have a wonderful couple of days!
