Snapshots from the Sidebar | February

Snapshots from the Sidebar FebruaryI’m sitting writing this late Sunday post after another crazy busy yet super fun weekend! I’m not complaining in the slightest, as I mentioned in my last post busy feels good right now and even if I’m currently exhausted, I’ve got three days of non stop fun with my best bud to thank for that, which is a good kind of exhausted to be. It has meant that the blog has been a little quieter than I’d like (I always know it’s been a busy week if I don’t manage to round it off with a Five Things post) so this evening I wanted to check in and end a busy weekend and a busy month by introducing you to the blogs which have been gracing my sidebar over the last 28 days.

With today also marking the first day of Spring, it’s the perfect time to freshen up your blogroll and find some new reads and I can’t recommend these folks enough!

What they say: “I like writing, hence starting this blog after alot of umming and ahhing. Simply put:

‘If you never did you should. These things are fun and fun is good’ – Dr Seuss

If you like baking, or cooking, going to gigs, losing yourself in a book, shopping (online), dream of a beautiful Anthropologie worthy home, or are just after a few London tips, maybe you’ll like my blog too! Fun is good.”

What I say: I met Angela at the end of last year when we visited the BBC Good Food Show together and we’ve kept in touch since. Her blog is fun, colourful and totally smile enducing. (I get major design envy every time I visit, how perfect is that logo?) The Awkward Blog covers all things London lifestyle in a fun, witty and infectious way, from Food and restaurant reviews to travel adventures and shopping wishlists and personally I just can’t get enough. For me the most enjoyable part of reading Angela’s blog though is her writing. I’m a fan of blogs that favour the written word if I’m really honest, and Angela does just that. Angela has such a lovely and honest way of writing that can be both hilariously witty and emotionally heartfelt at the same time. I loved her recent Honest post regarding how much is too much to share online which is a subject I think every blogger has wrestled with at one time or another, and her recent musings on how not to plan a wedding had me giggling beyond belief. You’ll fall for this blogs charm in no time I promise. Follow The Awkward Blog on Bloglovin’ here.

What they say: “My blog is the story of my life, told through food. I’ve had a life long love affair with cake and I’m pretty sure I invented fusion food way before it was cool – I was six and demanded my parents mix my two favourite foods together for dinner to create pasta àla chocolate sprinkles. We’ve come a long way since then. I’m not an expert and I don’t have any culinary training, I just really, really, like food (it’s pretty much all I think about) and I want to share that love.”

What I say: I was first introduced to Hannah’s blog when we both took part in The Great Blogger Bake Off challenge. Her blog is literally foodie heaven, I mean this girl can seriously bake. Warning – if you have a sweet tooth, visits may induce major salivating. Those delicious recipe posts of beautifully made and photographed bakes are peppered amongst afternoon tea and restaurant reviews and foodie adventures. Hannah is such a sweet girl and since we connected she’s become someone I really enjoy hearing from on Twitter and Instagram. There’s nothing better than a shared love of cake right? She was a real pro at the blogger baking challenges and I’ve thoroughly enjoyed admiring her delectable dishes ever since. I mean, just look at this Orange and Brandy cake!
