Sunday Stripes and Stars

How to wear a pink coat in spring, Bumpkin betty With the title of this post it probably would have helped if I’d actually put this outfit up on Sunday, but hey, as one of the few weekends I’ve had off in a long time and with the sun shining I was happy to be anywhere except in front of my laptop that day.

I feel as if I’ve been really busy with all things blog lately, but looking at my content you’d never know as I only published one post last week (!). I guess sometimes it’s hard to convey all of the behind the scenes stuff that goes into blogging nowadays. I often wonder where the time to actually sit down and write is supposed to come, amongst a busy schedule of planning content, attending events, photographing projects, keeping all of your social channels up to date and replying to emails. It’s certainly more than I seem to be able to fit in a day anyway.

But despite the lack of content over the last week, I have been beavering away in the background, making plans and working on new posts so there’s plenty to come. I’m working on a bit of a blog design refresh which should hopefully be finished and ready to reveal mid May time, I’m putting together a whistlestop guide to Glasgow following my visit there last weekend, there’s plenty more travel content to come from our honeymoon (including a little video from our time in Borneo), I’ve been brainstorming lots of fun ideas for my Baking Club and of course planning this month’s travel themed bake which is coming soon (please do join in!), I’ve teamed up with a couple of brands to create recipes and so have some great foodie posts on the way, and today I’m off on a press trip to the lovely Derby countryside with DFS to talk interiors for a couple of days. So, with all that going on, I hope you’ll forgive the slight break in my usual blog schedule. I do think it’s healthy to take a step back every so often and spend some time working on the future plans, rather than just pushing out posts every other day without much thought.

Zara pink coat and Boden stripe tee, Bumpkin BettyPink coat and cheery blossom trees, Bumpkin BettyBoden stripe tee, Bumpkin BettyFinding the time to photograph my outfits has also been a tad tricky lately, with GB working all hours and travelling a lot for his work. We had approximately ten minutes to capture this look on Sunday before we had to dash off to meet friends, and all I seemed to be able to do in that time was find a series of cute doors to pose in front of with my steaming hot tea burning my hand off in the process, while GB faffed about getting the settings right on the Canon 5D we’re testing out at the moment (I’m thinking about taking the plunge and upgrading to this model as my 50mm lens isn’t really very productive on the camera I do have). What can I say, I love a pretty door.

I’m not really a fan of shooting in the sun, which is so hard as when it comes out all you want to do is put on your brightest pinkest coat, and get out there to enjoy it, but as you can see it’s not the best light for showing off an outfit in detail. The way the light bounced under that tree was kind of pretty though so we went with it. So instead of looking at the outfit, let’s just ogle those pretty doors and sweet cherry blossom trees shall we?

I know it’s somewhat of an Instagram cliché now to post pictures of cherry blossoms, but really, who can blame us all, as they are so so pretty. I love when the first signs of them appear and the pavements are suddenly awash with pink petals. No matter what the weather may be doing, it’s that little nudge that Spring is here and longer lighter evenings are on the way.

Pink Coat and star print jeans, Bumpkin BettyTop Uk Fashion Bloggers, Bumpkin BettyI of course can’t resist breaking out the pink details when this happens (oh wait – I wore a pink coat all winter too – can’t blame the cherry blossoms then!) and this Zara coat is an oldie (part of a co-ord you might remember?) but a real goodie. I teamed it with a pair of star print jeans from Boohoo which were a bit of an impulse buy around my birthday but I’m actually loving them – aren’t they fun? I also finally got a chance to don my birthday shoes – these 60s style monochrome buckle heels from Topshop. I was hugely swaying between these and the Jolene silver buckle flats but seeing as I have SO many silver shoes I opted for the monochrome this time. I may have to go back for the silver at some point though! So less of an outfit post today and more of a little random catch up, but I do hope you’re all having a great week and enjoying the sunshine!

Boohoo star print jeans, Bumpkin BettyAnyway time to dash, as I have a train to catch and a fun couple of days ahead exploring the Derbyshire countyside with a bunch of other blogger babes so I better get my tush in gear and at least attempt not to be late! To keep up with what I’m up to you can follow along on Twitter and Instagram.

What’s been keeping you busy lately? And have you cracked out the spring outfits yet?

Hey Ruth, Thanks for stopping by and glad you like the blog! The star printed jeans were a bit of an impulse buy but I’m definitely glad I bought them, and a bargain too so that always helps! x

Hey Diana, Thanks for your comment! I bought a size 12 and they were good on me as I prefer them a little baggier on the hip/thigh area for that boyfriend look. They don’t sit high waisted on me unfortunately as I have a long body but sit on the hip which is fine! I’m really happy with them though – very comfy and always get lots of compliments! Definitely worth the spend xx
