Winter is Coming…

Apart from that strangely warm yet windy weekend we’ve just had, it’s been feeling significantly colder these last few days, and I’ve fully embraced the return of my winter coat to my back, a cosy knit around my neck and boots fit for trampling on my feet.

Winter is coming folks, and that all important shift in wardrobe antics is approaching. I don’t know about you, but right now I’m in that ‘why do I have nothing to wear???’ phase of wardrobe transitioning where I know the summer clothes need to be given up but my winter clothes feel incredibly un-inspiring.

In these situations, I find it impossible to think of anything else other than shopping for a whole new wardrobe, and as a result my wish list fills up with endless pairs of boots and cosy coats that I simply must own.

This habit isn’t being at all helped by Avenue32, which right now is my current lunch break obsession. Stocking an endless lust list of designers such as 3.1 Phillip Lim, BLK DNM and J.W Anderson, there’s plenty to get excited about here. Plenty indeed…

To satisfy my cravings and because I am sure that I cannot be the only one who functions with a virtual wishlist at their side at all times, I’ve rounded up three trends I’m dying over right now, and how I’m planning to wear them this season.

 Boy Meets Girl…

This is absolutely one of my favourite looks right now, and the one I’m always most drawn to on Pinterest. I love that contradiction of masculine elements set against feminine in one outfit, and personally think there’s nothing more chic than a vintage style lace or embellished dress with an oversized coat and a pair of chunky boots. It’s a look I’ve never been very good at pulling off (I think you need that laid back cool vibe, not to mention the waif like figure) but this season I’m sure as hell going to try. I’m planning to rock the statement skirt/ chunky knit combo and most definitely the fancy dress/ leather biker. I’ve totally fallen for those pink printed trousers from Giles and how amazing is the Shrimps furry clutch?

High Roller…

Right now I am obsessed with roll neck jumpers, completely obsessed. Come to think of it, I’ve always been a fan, even when Dierdre Barlow was the only one rocking them. I can remember wearing them when I was younger under dungarees and over high waisted jeans (sound familiar? Can’t get my head around the 90s being back in fashion!) and being given many an odd look on non uniform days at school. Maybe it’s the blanket like nature of having something warm and cosy wrapped all around me, or maybe I just like to cover my double chin. Thankfully this season they are totally having a moment and personally I’m hoping it’s a long one. I want to wear mine oversized and chunky and with added details such as fedora hats and glitzy jewels.

Mermaid Moments…

It’s no secret that I’m a total magpie. Anything of the metallic, shiny or sequinned variety gets my vote but recently it’s the true mermaid style iridescent metallics that have really got me going. The two tone colour, the shimmery effect, the luring green tones – I’m in love. While I wouldn’t say no to a metallic blue Pashli, I fear that’s slightly out of budget so I’ll be channeling the trend with luxe trousers, shiny loafers and shimmering tops.

Have you started transitioning to your Winter wardrobe yet? What do you think of the trends I’ve chosen?

Even though we had pretty great summer, I never actually even got round to switching up my wardrobe. In Scotland, the summer tends to come and go before there has even been time to dig out your pretty dresses, ahaha. I’ve been gradually picking up new chunky scarves, jumpers and dresses I can layer though. I’m still in love with Autumn so I’m embracing that entirely before that final drop in temperature hits… which I kinda love too! Kath x

Oh I totally know that feeling Kath! At home, a scarf is ALWAYS needed especially by the beach! I do love Autumn too, embracing it all the way! xx

I love the big tweedy coat – timeless. It looked good in 1940’s films and still looks up to date and is warm and practical too!
